Itineraries
Day 1
Heading to Kafue National Park
The 7-day Classic Kafue Safari ( Lake Camp Edition ) starts in Lusaka with the pickup from your accommodation. It's about a 4-5 hour drive from Lusaka to get to Kaingu Safari Lodge, in the heart of central Kafue. Already along the way, you'll see antelopes like puku and impala. At Kaingu Safari Lodge you'll stay at a Tented Chalet, overlooking the Kafue River. It has an additional thatched roof for extra shade and an outdoor shower. You'll meet your guide in the afternoon and discuss the planned activities. You have a choice of day and night game drives, canoeing, boat cruises, and walking safaris.
Day 2-3
Kaingu Safari Lodge
The day starts early at Kaingu Safari Lodge. A fresh brewed coffee/tea gives you the energy to head out. Several game drive loops are waiting for you. Did you know that Oribi and Sharps Grysbok are found in Kafue? Try to spot these antelopes. How about a sundowner with a fantastic view from the top of a hill? It's possible. Want to try your tracking skills on a walking safari? Possible as well.
Day 4-6
Kafue National Park
It is a 3-hour transfer game drive from Kaingu Safari Lodge to Lake Camp mainly through woodland areas. Keep your eyes open. You might spot some kudu or even a herd of buffalo. Lake Camp is at the southwest corner of Lake Itezhi-Tezhi at the confluence of the Musa River and the lake. The marshland around the lake shore attracts herbivores like zebras, buffaloes, elephants, and of course a lot of birds too. Leadwood trees, which died decades ago, are still standing and give the floodplain a surreal image, especially on clear moon lid nights. The edge of the floodplain is the hunting area of lions and leopards.
Day 7
Drive to Lusaka
Your 7-day Classic Kafue Safari ( Lake Camp Edition ) is coming to an end already. The final game drive will take you to Musa Gate, where you swap cars and head back to Lusaka. You'll reach Zambia's Capital after a 4-5 hours drive. Please let us know where we can drop you off or if flying out please tell us your flight details.
